According to Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the export value of fruits and vegetables in December 2017 was estimated at $ 276 million, of which $ 3.45 billion was exported (up 40% compared to 2016). This is the highest record ever recorded.
China, Japan, the United States and Korea are the top four importers of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables in the past 11 months. The export value of fruits and vegetables was strong (70.6%), United Arab Emirates (57.4%), and China (54.9%).
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), in 2017, the market for Vietnamese fruits has a number of major seasonal effects. However, this is a “bumper harvest” of the fruit industry with strong export value and many fruits have been present in many markets.
Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong said that in 2018 the suppliers of vegetables and fruits of Vietnam will focus more on processing. There have been many factories started in six key economic areas, with modern capacity and technology. At the same time, it is necessary to focus on market development, not only on the traditional market, but also on research and expansion of new and potential markets.
Therefore, Vietnam must focus on three stages: raw material development in each region to develop processing and market expansion.
