The National Office of Rational Property has granted safety under geographical indication for Long Khanh, Dong Nai, Vietnam Rambutan, which is grown in the southeastern province of Dong Nai, Vietnam

The status was given to Nhãn and Tróc Rambutan grown, preserved and packaged in Long Kha nh Town, Xuan and Loc, Tho ng Nha t and Cam My districts.
Nha n rambutans, which are smaller than other kinds, are considered to have the best taste among rambutan varieties.

Tro c rambutan has a red or dark red peel from the lime, long hairs and a sweet taste. The skin does not stick securely to the seed and can be eaten easily.
Geography, climate and garden soil have created the specific quality of Long Kha nh rambutan compared to rambutan grown in other areas, in line with the National Workplace of Intellectual Property.
The provincial People’s Committee will manage the geographical sign protection. Rambutan is the province’s second fruit awarded geographical indication protection, after Ta n Trie circumstance grapefruit.

Dong Nai has more than 11, 000 ha of rambutan grown mostly prolonged Long Khanh City, Xuan Loc, Thong Nhat capital and Cam My districts.
More than 6th, 700ha of Rambutan in these areas are under geographical indication protection. Long Khanh Town has about 2, 800ha of rambutan. Many areas have used advanced farming techniques to improve yield and quality.
Tran Mong Thanh, mouthpiece chairman of the Long Khanh Town Householder’s Committee, said: “The town has helped farmers placed up a model of growing rambutan under Thai Good Agricultural Practices (VietGAP) standards in Binh Loc Commune. The model is actually employed by other farmers. “We are strengthening the link between companies and farmers to ensure stable rambutan retailers, ” he said.
Doan Quoc Sang, who grows rambutan in Xuan Lo c District, said Dong Nai Vietnam Rambutan was delightful and well-known in the home market, but the retailers were unstable.
“We expect the geographical indication safety will cause better prices and stable outlets, inches he said.
The province’s rambutan orchards are now in peak harvest season, with an average end result of practically 20 considérations per ha, lower than the prior harvest. Orchard owners attributed the lower yield to the result of prolonged drought in the dry season. This coming year rambutan was harvested about one month later than in other years.
