Bitter melon (Momordica charantia) is a type of consumable, medicinal fruit that is native to Asia, The african continent and regions of the Carribbean. This is a common veggie in Vietnam in simple fact it is planted in southern Vietnam.
Momordica charantia goes by several common names around the world, including bitter melon, nasty gourd, balsam, bitter apple and carilla fruit. This belongs to the cucurbitaceae plant as well as today is mostly grown in two varieties due to its medicinal benefits
